Corporate Thieves!

This morning I went to the local coffee shop, a franchise of the corporate giant that we all know and worship. Since I was dressed a little better than a street urchin, I decided that the drive-thru was the way … Continue reading

ARTSNB, CHRISTMAS, KILL SANTA

This week was an amazing one for me. I received a creation grant from ARTSNB, a branch of the provincial government, to write my next novel. It’s humbling, as there are always more applicants than money to go around. With … Continue reading

JASON FOR PREMIER!!!

Alright! After much pondering, puzzling and procrastinating, I’ve decided to run for Premier of my province of New Brunswick.  By the looks of things, if I don’t take the reins of the joint pretty soon, nobody is going to want … Continue reading

Racists, Bigots and Bilingualism

Well, well, well. The bilingual beast has reared its ugly head once again in New Brunswick. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any more stupid around here, they did! Apparently it’s unconstitutional for English and French children to ride … Continue reading

Tips about tips?

Recently while in the USA, after dining in a restaurant, the bill was presented and the tip was included in the amount. I have a real problem with this. Why should the establishment be the one who decides what the … Continue reading

Mayweather Pacquiao Superfight is on!

Back in 2012, I ranted about those two chumps refusing to get together. https://jasonlawsonrants.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/manny-pacquiao-and-floyd-mayweather-champs-or-chumps/ Well, it’s finally happening. Better late than never I guess. Maybe the two of them were afraid that they might run out of money.  The latest … Continue reading

Alward, Gallant, Election NB

Now that August is upon us, I am reminded that like autumn, there is a provincial election looming in the not-so-distant  future. And I can’t say that I’m excited about it. Provincial politics in New Brunswick remind me of a  sporting event of sorts. There are only two teams on the ice, and it doesn’t matter how shabbily one team  plays, they might lose possession of the puck for a while, but they’ll get it back sooner or later.   Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? First we vote red, then we vote blue, then red again. We keep kicking  them out  of office, then voting them back in, as if they are actually going to change. I don’t know how many of you are  paying attention, but this province is almost bankrupt. There hasn’t been any real leadership here in  decades. That’s right, decades! If something isn’t done to rectify the situation, we’re going to be in the  same boat as the city of Detroit.   We could change the political landscape by voting in one of the other parties, but I don’t think they  can take office unless they consider joining forces. And they should consider it. As New  Brunswickers, what are we afraid of? Could a coalition party do a worse job than the liberals  or the conservatives? Absolutely not. Come on people. It’s time to let  someone else take over the rink, and chuck the red and blue clowns into the penalty box.

The world’s laziest blogger returns….

If there is a ranking system for bloggers, I’m pretty sure I’d be getting a big, fat zero lately. My site has been emptier that Mother Hubbard’s cupboard. It’s not that I didn’t want to write. Au contraire, nothing bothers … Continue reading

Merry Christmas, Bah Humbug, Santa’s a Jerk!

As December approaches and the temperature lowers, so does my patience with television, radio and any other medium that spouts out Christmas commercials like a popcorn maker on steroids. Do I hate Christmas? Not really, but I can’t stand what … Continue reading
