Seeing as I’m still not totally healed up, I’ve spent the last few weeks writing. I’ve been working on a novel and it’s just about completed. The whole thing is kind of creeping me out. I’ve put a lot of time into it (bout a year) and I think it’s a good work, maybe even a great one. The worst thing about it is even though I wrote a good story, it may never be published and no one will read it. Fiction is a tough master that’s for sure. But sometimes the truth is even stranger…
This week the right honorable gashole David Alward is promising a free vote in the legislature about the development of the shale gas industry. Is he for real? Trust me, there’s no such thing as a free vote with no consequences. I can only imagine how torn the conservative MLAs must be over this. Vote with the gashole and your constituents want your head, vote with your constituents and forget about getting into cabinet or anywhere else. This is why I keep stressing I can’t get into politics. The whole thing stinks of fracking fluid.
You can’t imagine how excited I was when I went to see my surgeon for my follow up appointment and he couldn’t remember who I was. I’m not joking. “Have I worked on your knee before?” he asked. “You just operated on it.” I replied. He just stared at me blankly. I think he might be using some of that amazing intervenus they gave me on a regular basis. No wonder I don’t seem to be healing up right, maybe he thought he was working on my elbow. Thank god he didn’t perform my vasectomy. My father’s always patching up horses when they have sore legs. I think I’ll let him do the next knee procedure.
Finally some good news. This week my neice Jessica Lawson participated in her first ever wrestling meet after joining the team this fall. To say she’s good at it would be an understatement. She made it all the way to the finals and came away with the silver medal. I can only imagine what she’ll be able to accomplish after she has a few more matches under her belt. Can anyone say olympics? On behalf of the whole family I’d like to say “Way to go Jess!”. I just wish I’d been there to take some pictures. Next time I will and I’ll post them here for everyone.
