Apparently if you’re a big time tory in New Brunswick, you can get yourself a big time job. All Robert Hatheway had to do was try to get nominated, (not actually get nominated) and now he’s the new chairman of the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation. Then there’s Robert MacLeod. He ran for the leadership of the party in 2008, flopped like a lead balloon and became the president of Invest NB. And I can’t forget Daniel Allain who worked on the campaign handing out pins and buttons. He’s the new president of NB Liquor.
So I think I’m going to call up Mr. Alward and ask him for a job. Not a big time job like those guys got cause let’s face it, I didn’t support him. But my grandfather was a big time tory. He was one of those old time card carrying conservatives that would’ve voted tory if a beagle was the candidate. That’s gotta count for something in a government that’s so full of patronage and political appointments it absolutely stinks.
When the new budget comes out we’ll be told to tighten our belts, expect less services and pay more taxes. Times are hard here in New Brunswick. We all have to do our share and carry the load. Unless of course you happen to be connected. Then the sky’s the limit.
So hire me Mr. Premier. I want a desk, a secretary and an expense account. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did. Cause unless you can provide a political appointment to every taxpayer in the province, we’ll make sure somebody else gets your job. The sooner the better…
