Pope Benedict XVI retires and looks to the stars…

So the pope decided to call it a day. What’s the big deal? He’s old, tired and not in the best of health. If he wants to retire, he should be able to. The rest of us can. With some time on his hands, he might be able to something amazing. To be brutally honest, the Vatican should forget about the impending dilemma about who should be the next catholic Barack Obama with a direct phone line to God and ET, and maybe concentrate on fixing the church itself. For one thing, they should abolish that mindless celibacy clause and allow the priests to get married. This church has more scandals about sex and pedophilia than you could find in any tabloid. It’s time for that to change. Allowing priests to marry and have families would weed out all the fruits and nuts hiding in frocks.

They should also let women become priests as well. A woman can do just as well, if not better than a man in a pulpit. And let them get married too. If the Vatican just thought about it for about one whole second, they’d realize this would solve another problem as well. The declining number of priests in the church, particularly in North America. It’s a no – brainer, do away with the celibate rule, and you fill up your priestly quota. And you’ll no longer have to funnel danger pay to the altar boys.

A lot of people are getting sick of organized religion. I know I am. It’s seems to be nothing more than political party with bibles and crosses. Money and power hungry. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of good people involved with churches, it’s the organizations as a whole I can no longer stomach. That being said, if the catholic church wants to bring back it’s parishioners, maybe it better realize that this is the 21^st century, and things have to change. Maybe Pope “Eggs” Benedict XVI thinking there’s little green men in flying saucers is a step in the right direction.
